KoolSpan TrustChip Family
The KoolSpan TrustChip™ is a family of hardware devices that contains on-chip crypto processing, key management and secure storage hardware that run KoolSpan’s award-winning authentication and per-packet 256-bit AES encryption in a hardened, tamper-resistant environment.
KoolSpan’s TrustChip is available as Smart Card and SD Card components. Both devices use industry-standard interfaces, such as USB and Secure Digital (SD). An FPGA package is also available for OEMs that want embedded functionality.
The TrustChip silicon-based crypto engine supports KoolSpan’s industry-leading security architecture for wired and wireless networks, including both local and remote LANs and clients. Easy to implement, there are no Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate servers to deploy, configure or maintain.
Smart Card and SD capability:
- Standard Smart/SD Card/USB interfaces
- Hardened, tamper-resistant, tamper-evident package
- PIN-protected device
- Unique, secret serial number
- Internal crypto engine
- Key generation
- Supports multiple security associations, network connections and applications on one flash card
- User data, files and multimedia objects are encrypted using generated internal key method (secret card ID + PIN)
- Bidirectional authentication
- FIPS-140-2 certified algorithms
MicroSD TrustChip additionally contains/supports:
- Internal 32-bit processor (microSD card)
- 256-bit AES with per-packet keying
- Secure memory area
- Secure interface to host system (no bus-snooping)
- Customizable firmware for specific OEM applications
TrustChip - Secure Data Storage
The SD Card version of the TrustChip also provides secure storage of your most sensitive information. User address book, calendar, e-mail and sensitive corporate data can be securely stored in the hardware-protected, tamper-resistant TrustChip and cannot be accessed without knowledge of the secret user-specific PIN. Losing a TrustChip doesn’t expose data. A TrustChip, once registered to a specific device, will not work in any other device, offering users total confidence and peace of mind.
FPGA – For Embedded Design
The FPGA version of the KoolSpan TrustChip can be embedded into your hardware. Fully customizable, the FPGA firmware and software provide full hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption with per-packet keying and mutual authentication, and support simultaneous connections to other TrustChip-enabled devices. The FPGA interfaces can be adapted to support your particular hardware. The FPGA is based on the Altera Cyclone family.
