KoolSpan Manager

The KoolSpan Manager is an enterprise software application that provides a network administrator with encrypted access to Locks and Keys. The Manager performs several important functions, including:

• Configuring Locks: setting names, IP addresses, uploading user databases, etc.
• Configuring Keys: adding/deleting Keys to the network
• Changing the permissions of a particular Key, including setting remote access IP address, split-tunneling options, etc.
• Setting reporting IP address for each Lock
• Managing Key assignments to individual users

How It Works

KoolSpan Manager runs on any Windows XP or Windows 2000 machine. It manages Locks and Keys on your enterprise network. After initial setup, configuration, and distribution of user Keys, it is only used for making changes to the configuration of your system. After the changes have been entered, they are securely uploaded to each Lock on the network, and the Manager can be exited until another change needs to be made. The KoolSpan Manager does not need to be running to allow users to securely connect to the network—Locks and Keys operate autonomously.

The network administrator is provided with a Master Key, which is required to unlock the KoolSpan Manager program. The application is accessible using the Master Key, which contains its PIN. The combination of the Master Key and PIN provide the IT administrator entry to securely modify the Lock’s registered user database and to enable/disable individual user Keys. The Manager database maps users to Keys, Keys to Locks, and Locks to a specific network. The database is always in encrypted form and can only be accessed via the Manager program when the Master Key is inserted. The program makes it easy to add, delete and change an individual user’s access, as well as to monitor who is connected to each Lock on the network. It also allows the enterprise to fully configure and/or modify the settings of any individual Lock on the network.
