KoolSpan to Present Conference Session at Internet Telephony® Conference & Expo West 2007
KoolSpan’s Jeffrey Stern to participate in panel discussion on Extending Security to the Unified Communications User Community at the Los Angeles Convention Center Sept. 10.
Bethesda, Md., Sep. 4, 2007 — KoolSpan, the information security industry's leading innovator of embeddable security technology for network-aware devices, today announced that Jeffrey Stern, VP of Business Development, has accepted an invitation to present on a panel discussion titled, ‘Extending Security to the Unified Communications User Community’ at TMC’s INTERNET TELEPHONY® Conference & EXPO West 2007, Sept. 10, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
As enterprises deploy unified communications technology, they find themselves under increasing pressure to extend networks beyond trusted domains in order to enable soft clients, WiFi/dual-mode phones, remote IP phones, and Web phones that extend unified communications beyond the enterprise main office. With users less confined to headquarters, enterprise networks are becoming increasingly complex and susceptible to security breaches.
“Most of today’s enterprise security architecture, including corporate firewalls and perimeter protection tools, has been built on heavy and complex technology that tends to lack the interoperability and scale required for a truly secure unified communications infrastructure rollout,” Stern said. “We look forward to addressing these and other pressing enterprise security challenges facing the unified communications community.”
The panel will examine a number of common threats, including reconnaissance, Denial of Service (DoS)/Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), Stealth DoS, spoofing and VoIP spam, in order to explore the best practices methods to secure all VoIP, IM and other IP communication applications from threats that endanger the continued exchange of time-critical, business-sensitive information.
INTERNET TELEPHONY® Conference & EXPO, to be held September 10-12, 2007, is one of the world’s largest and best-attended IP Communications trade show. At the last ITEXPO, held January, 2007 in Ft. Lauderdale, the show drew over 7,100 buyers and sellers of IP Communications products and services. For the upcoming show in September, TMC projects an attendance of 7,500. “We are very pleased Jeff Stern will be participating in this year’s show. KoolSpan is widely recognized and respected as an industry leader, and I am confident that our attendees will appreciate and value the opportunity to hear his perspective on how to deploy secure unified communications throughout the enterprise,” said TMC President and Conference Chairman, Rich Tehrani. “Over the past twelve months, widespread deployment of IP Communications services by global service providers, businesses and governments has reinforced that this exciting technology is a viable, cost-effective communications solution.”
KoolSpan technology has been rigorously tested and favorably reviewed by top security research organizations in the United States government, as well as many industry trade publications. In April, KoolSpan was named an Information Security Magazine/TechTarget Readers Choice Award winner for Best Emerging Technology. The company was honored in February with an SC Magazine SC Award for Best Multi-Factor Authentication technology, and late last year was named one of the Top Ten “Security Companies to Watch” by the editors of Network World.
