KOOLSPAN NAMES EMIL STURNIOLO CHIEF SCIENTIST

Founding architect of NetMotion Wireless joins the KoolSpan executive management team bringing more than 25 years experience in wired and wireless systems design, with six patents awarded and numerous other foreign and domestic patents pending regarding mobile connectivity.

Bethesda, Md., Jan. 9, 2007 -KoolSpan, Inc., the Information Security industry's leading innovator of embeddable security technology for network-aware devices, today announced the appointment of Emil Sturniolo as its Chief Scientist. Sturniolo brings to KoolSpan more than 25 years experience in wired and wireless systems design, most recently serving as a founding executive and Chief Scientist at Seattle-based NetMotion Wireless, a leading mobile VPN provider.

Sturniolo will be responsible for extending KoolSpan's product reach, as well as counseling KoolSpan on intellectual property issues and leading the formation of industry standards to help further propel KoolSpan's engineering, sales and marketing efforts.

Sturniolo is a member of the board of directors for the Portable Computer and Communications Association, co-chair of the Mobile Architecture Committee of the Open Group and is actively involved in several other industry associations and standards bodies. He currently holds six U.S. patents with numerous other domestic and foreign patents pending specific to mobile connectivity.
