KOOLSPAN, mobID FORM OEM PARTNERSHIP EMBEDDING INDUSTRY-LEADING KOOLSPAN TECHNOLOGY INTO ADVANCED HANDHELD BIOMETRIC COMPUTER

Technology integration combines strong authentication and encryption security for wireless network applications for transmission of data, video and voice, to run securely on mobID's rugged Handheld Biometric Computer.

Bethesda, Md., and Herndon, Va., Aug. 9, 2006 - KoolSpan, Inc., the Information Security industry's only provider of Secure Encrypted and Trusted (SET) Link technology that bridges networks, users, and devices with encrypted network layer access, today announced it has entered into an OEM partnership with mobID, Inc, the provider of the mobID Handheld Biometric Computer (HBC), a unique and military standard compliant rugged magnesium handheld computer that incorporates for the first time the ability to capture multiple biometrics including facial recognition, fingerprint scan, and speech recognition for the primary purpose of identifying terrorists and subversive individuals on watch lists worldwide. The initial phase of the partnership will focus on integrating the respective products, with a customer deployment scheduled this year. Forecast shipments are in the tens of thousands. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Under terms of the agreement, KoolSpan technology will be embedded into the mobID HBC, to provide military, border patrol, and first responder personnel with secure access and identity authentication in extreme adverse conditions. This unique technology partnership provides secure network and Internet connections, while all protocols and applications are simultaneously supported by an exceptionally high level of security.

"In a world of increasing instability and complexity, the combination of KoolSpan technology with mobID HBC devices will for the first time allow military and first responders to immediately authenticate identities and securely transmit information and provide other mission critical support functions in any environment day or night," said mobID Chief Executive Officer Matthew Schnedl.

KoolSpan CEO Tony Fascenda said his company is pleased to join forces with mobID on this important OEM partnership and excited about the value of this integrated solution and it's potential to address many critical mobile communications and mobile computing requirements.

"This is a marriage of extremely tactical and agile technologies that allows mobID users to connect securely to protected assets, simply and powerfully," Fascenda said. "Encryption keys are generated on a per-session, per-user, per-packet basis and the end result is more security with no management of encryption keys. If a device is ever compromised there is no exposure of the encryption keys because they are generated on the fly and fundamentally offer nothing to gain."

Heralded by leading tech and security industry trade publications as one of the most innovative two-factor authentication solutions on the market, KoolSpan technology combines a smart card to smart card architecture with per packet 256-bit AES Ethernet encryption to protect sensitive information without impacting bandwidth utilization or performance. Operating uniquely at Layer 2, KoolSpan's flagship SecurEdge lock and key infrastructure provides an ultra-secure and consistent way for trusted users inside and outside of the firewall to access their company's private control or business network. Whether wired or wireless, local or remote, the SecurEdge solution is simple to configure, support and install into networks, including remote sites.

About mobID, Inc.

Headquartered in Northern Virginia mobID, Inc is a technology manufacturer providing unique hardware and integrated software solutions to address the global demand for accurate multi-biometric based identification and authentication through biometric records stored on the device or through wireless network connection to government databases and watch lists. At the heart of the solution is an extremely rugged and unique Handheld Biometric Computer called mobID. This device incorporates for the first time, the ability to capture and verify multiple biometrics, using facial recognition, fingerprint scan, and speech recognition in a rugged and submersible mobile device with embedded GPS, cellular telephone and wireless connectivity. The device's camera system provides streaming video and also captures and decodes 1D and 2D barcodes allowing for the unique mobID process for embedding biometric records (face and fingerprints) into these barcodes that can be printed with a handheld printer for tagging people and objects in remote field operations in all weather conditions. By incorporating dual on-board lights of both LED (white light) and Infra-Red (invisible light) types mobID is uniquely capable of accurate facial recognition and video streaming in bright sunlight or dark of night. The mobID HBC can be used with many other products such as remote cameras, smart shipping container locks, or smart handcuffs, with Bluetooth connectivity or using external USB or PCMCIA ports.
