How KoolSpan Works

The KoolSpan end-to-end network security solution is ideal for a remarkably wide range of LAN bridging, VoIP, WiFi and Remote Access applications

A user token (Key) and a small network device (Lock) each contain embedded crypto hardware that executes onboard key management, encryption processing, enabling “keyless exchange” and mutual authentication of end devices.

The Lock-and-Key combination provides a totally secure, Layer-2 connection between the user’s computer and the network that just works... the first time and every time! No VPN application to configure or run, just plug in the Key and correctly enter a PIN to get connected.

The only configuration needed is to enable a single port in the firewall or router to forward KoolSpan traffic to the Lock. The Lock blocks access to the network from anyone who doesn’t have a valid key.

Best of all, KoolSpan provides 256-bit AES security regardless of the capabilities of the host networks on which it operates, and transparent to all network applications and equipment.

The unique design of the KoolSpan Lock allows it to simultaneously authenticate users from local LAN connections, local wireless connections and from remote wired and wireless connections across the Internet, if an administrator permits, making it the first security solution to simultaneously support wired and wireless as well as local and remote users.
